STP2 Upgrades

This tutorial demonstrates how to upgrade your business so that you can use Single Touch Payroll phase 2 (STP2) in FAS 3 Desktop.

TIP: In STP2 the employees need to have the Commencement date entered on the Payroll details page. I forgot to mention that in the video.

New default settings for common tax codes

Gross taxable pay (also previously called PAYG withholding taxable)

Income type: Salary and wages

STP type (STP 1, no longer matters for STP 2): Individual_Non_Business

STP gross classification: Gross

STP tax classification: Not applicable

 

PAYG Withheld

Income type: Salary and wages

STP type (STP 1, no longer matters for STP 2): Individual_Non_Business

STP gross classification: Not applicable

STP tax classification: PAYG tax withheld

 

Cents per km - non -taxable (previously called car allowance)

Income type: Salary and wages

STP type (STP 1, no longer matters for STP 2): Individual_Non_Business

STP gross classification: Allowance - Cents per km - Non taxable

STP tax classification: Not applicable

 

Overtime (this is a new tax code)

Income type: Salary and wages

STP type (STP 1, no longer matters for STP 2): Individual_Non_Business (although it is new for STP 2)

STP gross classification: Overtime

STP tax classification: Not applicable

 

Salary sacrifice for additional super

Income type: Salary and wages

STP type (STP 1, no longer matters for STP 2): Not applicable
